Bridges of Madison County

So, I am a sucker for romantic movies. And movies set in country background, with longing for lover really excites me. So, when I finally decided to watch ‘Bridges of Madison County’ I knew I would love it, but I did not know, to this extent.

It is a beautiful movie, will be an understatement. It is a heart touching movie, will not be a lie. But it is a movie, which certainly lets you believe the simplicity of relationships. Yes, there are times when you feel trapped, yes, there are times when you have choices to make, but then, there are times when you are freed of all these and you live for yourself and decide for yourself.

Francesca(Meryl Streep) left Italy and settled in Iowa. She has what a woman should have- Beauty, doting husband and two children. Not that she is unhappy, but she definitely longs for more. And comes Robert(Client Eastwood) with his charm of a traveler, musings of a photographer and touch of a gentle lover. And Francesca is moved, to an extent, that her bags are packed and she is ready to leave the world for him, but she just can’t.

The story is narrated by her to her children after her death and makes them realize the love that she shared with a man unknown to both of them.

Meryl Streep is brilliant and Client Eastwood is handsomely livid. ‘ you are anything but a simple woman’ , ‘this kind of certainty come once in a lifetime’. What I really liked that it did not show that the man took advantage of a lonely woman, but it showed that woman wanted this. He does not look at her in a way that she looks at him from the first instance and it is she who takes the stand of being with her family. Yes, she is confused and in a state of pain, she fiddles with the car door, her dress and everything. You realize her confusion and the tough choice and you understand her final decision.

A beautiful movie for all the romantics out there
